Veneers

Every day, you put your teeth through a lot with the food you eat, the beverages you drink, and the movements you make. Accidents happen, and sometimes you find yourself dealing with chipped, broken, or discolored teeth. You may have also been born with smaller or shorter teeth than the average size. Cosmetic dentistry provides an option to fix these issues: veneers.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells that are shaped like teeth and made from a porcelain or resin-composite material. Cosmetic dentists attach veneers to the front of any problem teeth to change and improve their appearance. They are permanently bonded to your teeth when they are attached.

Although they’re made of a thin material, veneers are very durable and made of the highest quality material, and they are made uniquely for each and every patient.

Types Of Veneers We Offer

If you come to Habersham Dental to get your veneers, we offer two options for you to choose from: porcelain and no-prep. They each have their own processes and costs.

Porcelain veneers are made of a stain-resistant material that looks very close to your existing tooth enamel. The process for applying porcelain veneers requires at least two appointments with us: one for veneer preparation and at least another for placement. Preparation may include removing some of your tooth enamel, which sometimes requires anesthesia.

No-prep veneers are very similar to traditional porcelain veneers, except they need less tooth preparation before your placement appointment. They are made of a similar porcelain material but take less time to attach and require less enamel removal.

Which Dental Issues Can Veneers Fix?

Some of the dental issues veneers can fix include:

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For Veneers?

If you’re thinking about getting veneers and you have any of the dental issues above, we can help you determine whether or not they are the right choice for you. We will only place veneers on otherwise healthy teeth, so if you have any other dental concerns like fillings or root canals, we recommend you get those procedures done first.

If you’re looking to upgrade your smile, veneers may be a great choice.

How Are Veneers Applied?

To create a smooth surface for the porcelain veneers to attach to, we will permanently remove a small amount of your outer enamel for each tooth. This will be done at the preparation appointment, and anesthesia will be used if needed to ensure you experience no discomfort. After this, we will take a dental impression of your teeth which will help us make your custom veneers.

Your veneers will be created individually and may take a few weeks to complete. When they’re ready for you, we’ll attach them to your teeth at your placement appointment. A strong bonding adhesive is used to permanently attach each veneer to your teeth. This process may take a couple of hours depending on how many veneers we need to attach.

Often, attaching no-prep veneers requires no local anesthesia and very little alterations to your teeth. Otherwise, the process is very similar to traditional porcelain veneers. This is a good solution for those with a lower pain tolerance.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

With good care and maintenance, porcelain veneers can last up to 10 years, while no-prep veneers can last up to 7 years. If you have any issues with your veneers, like chips or cracks, they will need to be replaced earlier.
